Next Overseas Trip

As I enjoy traveling, I would always wish to travel out the country whenever I have a chance to, least to say a trip to family's hometown, Guangzhou, Shunde District, with my relatives. Honestly, I don't really fancy China after reading many news of ridiculous behaviors and crime cases in the country. I've never been to the country, so news are what that left me impression of. But since it was a trip to family's hometown, I couldn't give it a miss and also the chance to meet the extended family tree.

I have been curious about the place ever since my mum mentioned to me about her extended family over there once in a while as I grow up. My mum didn't grow up in Guangzhou. To be more exact, it's my late grandfather's hometown. All my mum's siblings (total 9 siblings including my mum) are on this trip, but with only 3 cousins joining. So this time round I'm basically traveling with mainly "adults", as in my mum's generation. I hope I can still enjoy my time there.

Studio Ghibli

No, I'm not referring to the museum or their works but my experience at their studio, their workplace. But before I start, I shall mention this first - the visit I had was almost 5 years ago!!!! hahahaha Cause I didn't blog about it and am also missing Japan, so I decided to blog about it.

*I also just realized I stopped my Japan's trip posts till day 2 part 1 and Studio Ghibli visiting was on day 3. Hahahahaha*

☆ Disclaimer ☆
As these are based on my memory of 5 years ago, information may be recalled wrongly or have changed over the years. As no photography was allowed at working area, the working area would all be described in words according to my (poor) memory. Hence, it is your choice to trust the following content or not. ( >∀<)

So, I was lucky to be able to visit Studio Ghibli. It was a rare chance as the only time one would able to visit is either school trip or working on the same line. For me, it was a school trip and I am glad I participated in this trip! I was so excited as I grow up watching their films. I remember catching <My Neighbor Totoro> on TV and during secondary school days, my Chinese teacher(s) played few of his film such as <Laputa: Castle in the Sky> and <Grave of the Fireflies>.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by a bunch of cute litte kids. Okay, no link to the studio. The school / daycare centre just happened to be opposite the studio. The studio is actually not located at any city area but what seems to be at where private houses are located.

Upon entering, we were welcomed by this giant size totoro. We sat down to where it seems like a meeting room but also seems like a library due to amount of books/dvds shelved everywhere. Oh! There was also a big totoro there! But smaller than the one near the entrance. About toddler tall? We were also told no photography was allowed.

If I'm not wrong, we were then proceeded to their mini theatre to watch <Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea> trailer. That period of time when I was there was just nice the release of the film. This also means that Hayao Miyazaki sensei wasn't there. We were told he would take a few months break after each film ended and each film's production lasts 3 years. If he was there, he would be the sloppy(?) old man in slippers walking around the studio. Being the director, he oversees all the work. If he's not satisfied at whichever work, he would redo it himself. Back to <Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea>, we were also told they did the most drawings for this film - a new record. I don't know about other 2D animation films, but Studio Ghibli combines both hand-painted scenes/background with digital animation and then composite them together.

After the trailer and Q&A, we started touring around their workspace. I think I remembered visiting a room that seemed like a laboratory with a huge machine. I don't remember what the machine does or if it was even work. I guess it was used for some sort of scanning the work pieces. Then, we visited the work space. It's just like any other work space but probably smaller cause in general, Japan's office are smaller. However, there is one thing that caught my attention and I could even remember till now. I remember on a wall, they painted a BIG window with a beautiful sky and I think there was a mountain too. It was basically a beautiful view "out of the window". It is really amazing! Cause in this creative line, all the creatives will often be stucked in front of the screen to complete the work all day long. So the "window" is another perspective for them to like "see the outside world" when they look up to the wall. Cool right? If I could paint well, I might have painted a window on my wall infront of me. hehehe.

Heading upwards, we went to the rooftop. Photography allowed! hahaha. We were introduced to Miyazaki sensei's private collection and being typical tourists/visitors, we took photos with it. hahahaha.

⋙ His private collection.

Then I think we headed down, past by their cafe and proceeded to their next building. Yes, they have two buildings to themselves namely, 1 and 2. 1 is the main building and 2 is where all the paintings were born. The artists also would spend a long time to mix to a desired color.

⋙ The all white building in the middle is their second building.

⋙ I think this is part of their first building.

Anddddddddd, that's all for Studio Ghibli visiting. Later that day, we visited the Ghibli Museum.

Awesome but due to lack of time, we could not stay too long. There is really so much to see!!! Like the storyboards, the process etc. Like the studio, no photography allowed! Ahhh I wanna go again!!! There is also a gift shop that I guess is often crowded with people. Back then when I was there, it was <My Neighbor Totoro>'s 20 years anniversary, so I bought its 20 years anniversary pendant, Totoro's little keychain plushie and also Ponyo's plushie (yea, got hook to Ponyo after watching only the trailer and of which that played a language I don't understand too).

Time for Laputan Robot to say bye!

BBK Trip: Day 6 Last Day

Time flies so fast ! It was the last day already ! Though 6 days sounds long enough , it really isn't ! We wish we could extend our stay !

♡ Temple ♡

As I'm not a buddhist, I sat aside and watched them and others praying . Quite interesting . I mean the whole process ! Cause it was my first time watching people praying there . ( >∀<)

⋙ Breakfast at nearby McDonald's .

♡ Shibuya 19 ♡

Not that we had arrived at Shibuya . We wish we did though . It is another shopping mall opposite our hotel . A quiet mall compared to Platinum Fashion Mall ! Probably because of the limited number of shops and choices , plus Platinum Fashion Mall is huge enough to shop which is just nearby .

⋙ Lunch at the Food Court .

While looking around at the Food Court , we were tempted by the dessert . They look so yummy-licious ! (๑´ڡ`๑)♡ We decided to order it after our main dish !

⋙ "French crepes this fruit" ?

♡ Grand Diamond Suites Hotel ♡

*Emo Nemo* Time to book out of hotel room already !!!! ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚ Though all 6 days were spent to the max , it didn't seem enough ! *forever not satisfied*

⋙ Luckily that day was the day we left . Super heavy rain and strong wind ! The strong wind was not what we usually experienced in Singapore . It was so much stronger ! Tables , chairs and advertisements fell ; bell boys had to hold on the door to prevent the door from opening by the strong wind ; our luggages almost fell ; and our hair was in a mess ! i suppose umbrellas would be useless at that point of time !

⋙ A sign pasted in the cab we took to airport from hotel .

⋙ Flight food . On our way back to Singapore ! ٩(๑˃̌ۿ˂̌๑)۶

♡ Stuffs I bought ♡

Apparels : Nothing more than sgd10
// I think most expensive is 250 baht (approx. sgd9.97)

American backpack from Chatuchak : 300 baht (approx. sgd11.97)
Rolling Stones inspired canvas bag from Chatuchak : 225 baht (approx. sgd8.98)
Satchel Bags from Chatuchak : 300 baht each (approx. sgd11.97)
Blue handbag from Union Mall : 350 baht (approx. sgd 13.96)
Fake collar from Platinum Fashion Mall : 200 baht (approx. sgd7.98)
3 Rings from Union Mall : 50 baht (approx. sgd1.99)

And that's all for my Bangkok trip ! (人´∀`).☆.。 This trip is really all about shopping than anything else . Oh ! I did Thai massage for the first time too ! It was awfully pain ! It was literally screaming in my mind !!!!!! ヽ(-꒪д꒪-)ノ==== ┻━━┻ But total shiokness when every ended ! (*´ω`*)

Now I can't wait to visit Bangkok for another shopping spree and more massage sessions ! But then again , I wanna visit and explore other countries too ! Especially those I have not been to ! Hopefully plans for next year will come true ! It also means that I'll need more $$$$$ ! (Θ︹Θ)ს

BBK Trip: Day 5 Union Mall & Asiatique The Riverfront

It was the second last day already ... (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑)

♡ Platinum Fashion Mall Food Court ♡

⋙ Late breakfast

♡ Union Mall ♡

The first shop we saw was Watson . Being girls , we went in and shopped around . This is also where I bought more  POND'S Magic Powder - pink and blue . Sadly , I can't use my Singapore's Watson card . hahahahaha (≧▽≦)☆

⋙ Jang Geun Suk !

Hmm , I'm not really that crazy over him . But it's really surprising to spot snacks endorse by a Korean celebrity appearing in a foreign country . ( >∀<)

I did quite a bit of shopping as there are cheap stuffs for me to "grab" - clothes , bags and rings ! I even managed to buy ratten bag for my mum which she asked me to . Not that cheap like those typical bags (the most expensive thing I bought in Bangkok) , but still much cheaper and nicer than the ones I saw in Chatuchak Weekend Market . I think the bag costs me about sgd30 .

⋙ Quick lunch at Chester's Grill before heading for massage session which we have booked .

♡ Health Land ♡
120 Sathorn Nuea Rd. (Soi Sathorn 12), Bang Rak, Bangkok

Chris found this place online . As it was raved by many Singaporeans , she added it into our itinerary . Indeed , many fellow Singaporeans were spotted despite being in a foreign country .

⋙ Like one atas club house .

⋙ Tea after massage

♡ Asiatique The Riverfront ♡

Tourist attraction = overprice ! So we just walked around .

⋙  Cute illustration !

We wanted to have ice-cream but sadly the small shop was overcrowded with people .

⋙ Dinner at Yum Saap which was a wrong move ! Seriously bad service ! The location is a tourist attraction yet almost all the staffs could not understand or speak English ! We talked to them in English and they replied in Thai , as if we can understand them ! ヽ(-꒪д꒪-)ノ

BBK Trip: Day 4 Chatuchak Weekend Market & Central World

Finally it's Chatuchak Weekend Market ! It was my first time there . Before the trip , I always hear people commenting how cheap the things are sold and also the place being mega huge ! And on that day , we made ourselves to wake up early since the weekend market closes early .

⋙ Prepared to fight the hot and sunny weather . After all , the place is outdoor !

♡ Chatuchak Weekend Market ♡

Luckily we reached early . It wasn't that crowded when we arrived . We even managed to get 7 Cambridge-inspired satchel bags for 300 baht (approx. sgd11.96) each . Super worth it as the quality is quite good ! And we cleared like half the stocks of the bag the shop had / brought in that day .

Basically , it's more shopping but being half-dead at the same time due to the heat . DAMN HOT !!!! ꒰⁎×﹏×⁎꒱՞༘✡ Chris' mum could not stand it that she left the place first . The things sold are more or less like the ones we saw at Platinum Fashion Mall and many shops seem like a duplicate of one another . After a section + few lanes , we gave up ! But before we left , COCONUT ICE CREAM !!!!

⋙ The must-eat at Chatuchak Weekend Market ! (*´艸`*)

After all the sweating at Chatuchak , we had a bath before heading out for dinner at Central World .

♡ Central World ♡

⋙ Makeup-less ! Too lazy to makeup after bathing !

⋙ Thai milk tea !

Actually nothing much at Central World except lots of branded shops ! But we realize drugstore brands' cosmetics sold at Bangkok is cheaper than Singapore !

BBK Trip: Day 2 & 3 Platinum Fashion Mall

 。・*.✧ Day 2  ✧*✲゚*。⋆

It was shopping spree day ! We managed to wake up early . I think we kinda overslept also ! (*´艸`*) And we had awesome breakfast !

⋙ Y U NO STAY LONG LONG IN SINGAPORE ? (。•́︿•̀。)

⋙ Waffle fish burger (if I didn't remember wrongly) !

♡ Platinum Fashion Mall ♡

We started at the second last level which is the accessories level and we spent literally the whole day on just a level !And that was level 5 ! That means we still had 4 more levels to go then ! *faint* And I also realize rings sold in the mall are not that cheap as expected like many have said . Pricing is like in Singapore around sgd10 ! Even Singapore's flea market sells cheaper ! I suppose rings are only worth in when bought in bulks . Then again , why would I need so many similar rings ? (๑- ₃ -๑)

Lunch was at level 6's Fuji Restaurant ! Totally worth it ! Cause the pricing is so much cheaper than in Singapore !

⋙ Slups ! *looking at the amount of salmon ! By the way , that's salmon don !

⋙ Since I've already have a lot of accessories at home , i didn't buy a lot !

ASOS inspired Spikey Bracelet : 175 baht / approx. sgd6.97
Heart bracelet (with a big bow chiffon clip not in photo) : 50 baht / approx. sgd1.99

Dinner at Mc Donald's , after all that was the only food outlet nearby that was opened !

⋙ The meal size there is soooooo much massive than what we have here ! This is their medium size which is equivalent to our large size . Hence , their large size drink is like 7-11 slurpy large cup drink ! DAMN HUGE !!!! Besides , pricing is cheaper than Singapore's ! Sigh !

⋙ My loots from Platinum Fashion Mall ! (❁´◡`❁)*✲゚*

Dress with heart prints : 200 baht / approx. sgd7.96
Sleeveless vintage top : 100 baht / approx. sgd3.98
Floral shorts : 200 baht / approx. sgd7.96

♡ Pratunam Market ♡
It is located near Baiyoke hotel . The stuffs sold there are quite cheap but not many stalls , with a few selling about the same stuffs . Kinda like Singapore's pasar malam ?

⋙ 100 baht (approx. sgd3.98) sandals !

 。・*.✧ Day 3 ✧*✲゚*。⋆

♡ Platinum Fashion Mall ♡

That day we woke up rather late , so no breakfast but earlier lunch instead at Platinum Fashion Mall food court .

Whole day shopping again at Platinum Fashion Mall . Clothes are sooooo cheap that I wish I had more cash to buy more ! But I'm rather please with my purchases as well ! Apparels I've bought nothing costs more than sgd10 ! hehehe .

♡ MBK ♡
By the time we reached MBK was quite late . We shopped at NaRaYa , the cheapest high-end shop over there . Then we managed to change phone screen protectors and buy some phone accessories (eg. iphone covers) before shops started closing . Actually by the time , most shops already closed , so we could not do more shopping ! Even food outlets were closed , closing or not much food left ! (๑°⌓°๑) So we decided to dine in our hotel's restaurant .

♡ Ploy Restaurant @ Grand Diamond Suites Hotel ♡

⋙ Coconut ice drink

⋙ Bought this from 7-11 at about 29 baht / approx. sgd1.16 (?) and we cleared the shelf by getting many bottles each !

This bottle of POND'S Magic Powder is actually raved by many who has used it before . It really does Oil & Blemish Control . Maybe not totally but actually reduce the amount of oil . With that said , it blocks pores . Thus , it is a must to do with proper makeup remover unless you do not mind clogged pores ! (o ¯ํε¯ํ o)

We found blue bottles at their local Watson store day before we flew back to Singapore . Needless to say , I bought the blue ones as well ! So now I have many bottles to last me like forever ! hahahaha . Just kidding ! They are shared among my family except my dad ! My mum likes it as she finds it working well for her too ! (。•ᴗ•。) すごい〜
